Published in Hardcover by Indiana University Press (April, 2003)
Authors: Randall Tobias and Todd Tobias
Average review score:

Powerful and Practical!
Put The Moose On The Table, by Randall Tobias, is Who Moved My Cheese and more! It occurred to me, while I was reading Tobias' book,
that finally here's the advice I need when my cheese is moved! Why not learn from the best?
Fortunately for the reader, Tobias shares invaluable lessons in leadership by putting his own life on the table.

Great read for aspiring leaders
As the mother of 2 young adults who hope to be successful
and make a significant contribution to corporate America,
I appreciated this book and bought copies for both of them. Randy Tobias doesn't pretend to have all the answers, but he does translate his 30+ years of corporate experience into easily understood leadership lessons. A "must read" for any aspiring leader.

READ THIS BOOK!!
An extraordinary book about an extraordinary life. Put the Moose on the Table is chockful of useful wisdom from a man who has lots of it. Not your typical "CEO writes a book", Put the Moose on the Table will appeal to everyone who reads it. Remarkable...

Rocky and Bullwinkle and the Metal-Munching Mice

Author: Cathy West
Average review score:

the night the televisions went down.
Hi it's me again, the 46 year old Rocky and Bullwinkle fan.

I recently received this book, and quite honestly found it utterly a great fun book to read.

Its a quiet night in Frostbite Falls, everyone's at home watching their favourite shows on television. All of a sudden the screens go blank! What's happened? A strike at the local studio? A powercut? No such luck!!

It seems that your friendly neighbourhood bad guy, Boris, is at it again!! Acting under orders from Mr Big, his boss, he is making 6 foot high metal munching mice!! Mr Big is on the moon, and is making misery there. He has tricked the moon men, Cloyd and Gidney (yes its nice to see you back fellas) into bringing the mice to the USA.

Time to call (no, not Rentokil) but Rocky and Bullwinkle to foil their plans, with the help of Cloyd and Gidney.

Once again, great fun and a great read. Kids will really love this. Oh, if only they were back on British tv. Maybe they could give the job of Head of the BBC to Mr Big, he could set his mice on those annoying television licence detector vans.

Boris is at it again
Hi its me again, the 46 year old Rocky and Bullwinkle fan.

I've just recently received this book, and quite frankly it was enormous fun!!!

It's a quiet evening in Frostbite Falls, everyone is at home watching their favourite tv programmes when the screens go blank!!! What's happened? A power cut? A strike at the local television station? No!! It seems that there's an epidemic of aerials being chewed off by someone or something?

Your local neighbour from Hell, Mr Boris Badenov has been up to his tricks, and has made some giant mice that eat the aerials!!! Actually, he's under orders from his boss, Mr Big, who made a crash landing on the moon, (as if he was already off this planet) who wants to take over America.

Heavens to Betsy Ross, what do we do next? Call Rentokil? No, you enlist the help of your local heroes, Rocky and Bullwinkle, who with some extra terrestial help from their moon men friends, Cloyd and Gidney, set about foiling Boris' plan.

A great read and great fun.

Adios and keep a close eye on your televisions.

the great television mystery (or Boris is at it again!)
Hi yes its me, the 46 year old Rocky and Bullwinkle fan!!!

I have just received this book and once again it is really good fun.

It is a quiet evening in Frostbite Falls, everyone is home in front of their televisions when suddenly the screens go blank!!!

Why, what's happened? A strike at the local TV station? A powercut? No. An infestation of giant metal munching mice!!! Time to call in your very own resident "mousecatchers" no, not RENTOKIL, but Messrs Rocky and Bullwinkle. With a little extra terrestial help from Cloyd and Gidney, (yes its nice to see you back, fellas,) they set out to discover the mystery behind the mice.

You can guess who is behind it!! Yes, your neighbour from hell, Boris!!! Honestly, hasn't he heard of going to the pet shop to feed the mice? It seems that Mr Big, his boss, is out to take over the USA yet again.

So he tricks Cloyd and Gidney into bringing the metal monsters to our planet. Boris and Natasha swing into villainy and cause mayhem, but they reckon without the moose and squirrel who, with the help of Cloyd and Gidney and their SCROOCHING gun, they once again restore viewing to Frostbite Falls.

Come to think of it, maybe we should give the job of Head of BBC to Mr Big, he can then get rid of all those annoying Television Licence Detector Vans with them.

All in all, a good read and a good laugh for young and old alike.

Yep, rush to your local bookstore and buy this!!!

bye for now, and guard your TV sets!!!

Triumph of Spirit: An Autobiography by Chief Penny Harrington
Published in Paperback by Brittany Pubns Ltd (15 October, 1999)
Authors: Penny E. Harrington and Charles Moose
Average review score:

Penny Harrington belongs in the Women's Hall of Fame!
When I read Penny's profile in "TOP COPS" by Marion Gold, I wanted to know more about this courageous lady. Her autobiography is filled with all the excitement, tragedy, and even suspense that great fiction is made from - but her story is TRUE. I take my hat off to Penny and salute her for standing up to injustice and for setting an example for all women in law enforcement - in fact, for all women who face discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Thank you Penny, for having the guts to tell the world what happened to you, and how you succeeded against the odds.

Penny Harrington is the epitome of women in law enforcement.
Penny's dauntless frays to the pinnacle of her career instituted many changes in policing. She is a remarkable woman who stands by her convictions and her word, while always exhibiting incredible ethical and moral values. Women today still face many barriers in law enforcement. Penny has instilled the strength and courage in many of us to help fight those barriers and help make change for all women. She is not only an inspiration to all in law enforcement, but also to all who want to do the right thing!

Penny Harrington¿s book is an inspiration to all.
Penny Harrington's book is an inspiration, not only for women in law enforcement, but also for anyone in any profession. Her battles with discrimination, inequities, and bureaucratic red tape, while maintaining high ethical and moral standards, are very refreshing. She exemplifies what all law enforcement officers should strive to be!

The Wolves of Isle Royale: A Broken Balance
Published in Hardcover by Willow Creek Press (September, 1995)
Author: Rolf O. Peterson
Average review score:

Explore the Wolf-Moose dynamic on Isle Royale
If you've been to Isle Royale and want to know more about the wolves, then I highly recommend this book. Most visitors to Isle Royale hope to see a wolf, and most visitors leave the island disappointed. Isle Royale is the closest thing to a closed system to study a predator-prey relationship, and is the site of one of the longest running field studies. The book has some good stories about conducting research on Isle Royale, including the winter study when the research team are the only people in the park. It also provides some insight into how theories about the wolf-moose relationship are still evolving after years of research. It also discusses the challenges the researchers faced when the wolf population took a nosedive in the late 1980's, and ponders the question of what should be done if the wolves die out on IR. This book is several years old now, so if you're interested in more recent data, contact the IR Natural History Association [URL] to get the latest report.

Of wolves and moose ... and more
I've been interested in the moose and wolves of Isle Royale since visiting the island in the early 1990s. While I spotted plenty of moose (swimming in the lakes, jumping out of the bushes in front of us on the trail, etc.), the wolves remained hidden--a mystery.

Fortunately, Rolf Peterson writes brilliantly of the side of Isle Royale that many of us will never glimpse. Peterson's work switches easily between the science and the 'experience' of studying wolves in a remote setting. The book is chock full of interesting anectodes collected from Peterson's many seasons studying the island's flora and fauna. From landing a bush plane in a white-out to dragging moose carcasses through the woods, Peterson gives us an interesting look at the what being a field scientist might be like.

It's important to note that this book is not just about wolves. Indeed, so many environmental factors shape life on Isle Royale outside of its 'headlining' mammals (moose and wolves): from beaver to fox, from spruce to elder. Peterson does a great job of explaining how the changing environment (some human-induced, some not) has impacted the island's populations.

The book also has some excellent photographs, which illustrate not only the science, but also the beauty that is Isle Royale! Highly recommended.

It will have you wanting to read more, you can't put it down.
This book has every thing drama humor and just about trying to save a beautifal anamal.the author is a respected man of science and with that you get brilant writing and great photos of the wonderful canis lupis (wolf). So If you are a wolf person like me or just someone looking for a good read it's all in this book.

Big Moose Lake, New York (Postcard History)
Published in Paperback by Arcadia Tempus Publishing Group, Inc. (20 June, 2000)
Authors: William Scheffler and Frank Carey
Average review score:

What a Great Tour Both Around the Lake and in Time
This book is extremely enjoyable and informative. Not only did I love seeing the history of Big Moose Lake through the wonderful collection of vintage picture post cards, but I couldn't resist comparing each picture to the corresponding snapshots I've taken over the years! It is truly amazing how little has changed geographically in this incredibly scenic area of New York State. Scheffler and Carey, however, also do a great job showing the reader how social factors -- like fashion and entertainment -- have changed in the Adirondacks in the past 100 years. A wonderful tour of photographs that transport the reader around the lake and through time.

A trip back in time
This book will be near and dear to anyone who has visited Big Moose Lake or the Adirondacks.

For the ones who have visited the region before, the book provides a trip back in time and describes how the popular vacation spot got it's start. The best thing about the book and the lake is that not many things have changed since the early 1900's. When reading or just looking at the pictures, travelers are able to take a quick trip around the lake they love whenever they please.

more info on moose than most people will ever dream of!
If you're a moose-aphile, then this is your book! Every aspect of the moose is covered and includes great pencil drawings and photos. While written for scientists, most of the book is still quite readable for the layperson. I haven't read most of the book, but I do thumb through it regularly, and I always read something else that I never knew about the moose!

Amazing, informative, breathtaking, godsend, detailed, etc!
I would like to take this oportunity to thank all of the people/scientists, biologists, volunteers, etc. who helped put this awesome book together. The information in this book is coming from hands-on time consuming experience. This book is truly a mooselover's bible. I hold the men and women who devote their lives to researching this beautiful animal in the hightest respects. I just hope someday I may be part of the group of people contributing their knowledge into a future book as great as this one. I would like to say a special hello and thank you to the people of the Moose Research Center (MRC) at Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. I hope to be offered the wonderful opportunity of being able to volunteer at MRC. Moose and this book combined have opened up whole new doors to life's avenues for me. Again, thank you for your time and efforts in bringing this great book to us. I love it

This is a wonderful and touching book. My son, Elliott, is especially fond of it. I highly recommend this book for kids of all ages. It shows the value of teamwork and being sensitive to the needs of others.

Excellent Story
This book was an immediate favorite with my 4-year-old son. The story has characters faced with a dilemma and it is both touching and charming to see how the crisis is resolved.

If You Take A Mouse Book Set
Published in Hardcover by Laura Geringer (01 October, 2002)
Authors: Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond
Average review score:

Very cute
I bought this series for my nephew, who is 18 mos. old. He loves to be read to. There is enough detail in the pictures that there is plenty to point out. I can ask him "Where's the mouse" and he can look for it in the picture and point it out. And the artwork is cute. The stories are also cute and the sentences are simple enough that once my nephew does begin to read he'll be able to read these easily enough. A bit of subtle humor though, on one page the mouse writes words on the chalk board and one of them is versimilitude...just wait until my nephew want's to know what that word means!

Great Collection of Books...
... at a great price. My boys love the books and I love that they love them.

In the Beginning: The Bible Unauthorized
Published in Paperback by Thirty Seven Books (September, 2001)
Author: H. Moose
Average review score:

In the Beginning : The Bible Unauthorized
One of the best books I have read on the Bible. After every page I thought to myself, why didn't they teach me this in hebrew school. For those unfamiliar with how the basic hebrew was meant to be understood and how much is lost in translation, this is book is essential. For those without formal jewish education as well as those with, it explains the depth and profundity laden in every word in the genesis account. What else can I say, it was an eye-opener, you will never look at Torah the same again.

The Bible that Nobody Knows
H. Moose reveals the storehouse of wisdom and knowledge contained in the book of Genesis from "In the beginning . . ." through the birth of the Patriarch Abraham (Genesis 1:1 - 11:26). He demonstrates the severe deficiencies of all "authorized" translations and provides us with keen insight that he derives from the original Hebrew text of tradition that is studied by Jews even today.

I don't 'read' this book -- I study it and return to it from year to year. My own appreciation of the Bible is flat and colorless compared to Moose's "three-dimensional presentation in color," despite my mastery of the traditional Jewish literature in the original languages.

In Brooklyn, New York, before and during the World War II period, Moose, whose real name was Rabbi Aaron Hirsh Levitt, cultivated a circle of very Americanized young men who would study the Bible with him.
The book "In the Beginning" is either his text for the discussions or a record of what and how he was teaching.

Rabbi Levitt worked with the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Joseph Isaac Schneersohn (of saintly memory) as English editor of the bilingual monthly "Reading and Holiness" published by Agudath Chasidey Chabad in Brooklyn (1940-1945).

Rabbi Levitt also wrote for the monthly both in English and in Yiddish under the pen name A. I. Sigal. He first published "The Bible Unauthorized or The True Text of the Bible: a Scientific Treatise" in 1942 under the pseudonym A. H. Moose. This same book was reprinted in 1948 and 1966 appearing as "In the Beginning" with the shortened pseudonym H. Moose.
I have yet to determine the purpose of using pseudonyms, although this is not unusual in Chabad circles.

Two thumbs up for the publisher Thirty Seven Books -- keep up the good work. [URL]
